“Handa na nga ba?” Kamustahan kasama ang mga bata, guro  at magulang bago ang nalalapit na pasukan”

According to the Department of Health, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has already exceeded 300,000 and it continues to surge without clear and verifiable indicators that the situation would eventually improve in the coming months. The approach of the national government to this crisis lacks urgency and inadequate. The inappropriate actions of the government have made the lives of Filipino people especially children more difficult. Many families from the marginalized sectors have been risking their lives going out of their houses in order to earn a living and be able to provide for their needs.

Apart from the limited food aid, medical and economic assistance from the national government, the upcoming opening of classes is another concern of many children and their parents. The Department of Education (DepEd) has moved the resumption of classes to October 5 due to the failure in resolving problems haunting its learning continuity plan and blended learning program. Given the difficult situation and the proposed new learning modalities, many families are not able to afford and sustain the education of their children.

In order to highlight such concerns, Salinahi will conduct an online discussion dubbed “Handa na nga ba?” Kamustahan kasama ang mga bata, guro  at magulang bago ang nalalapit na pasukan” on October 2 (Friday) 10:00 AM – 11:30 via Zoom. The online discussion will provide a platform to school-aged children from public and private schools, out of school children, parents and teachers so they could share their stories and conditions days before the opening of classes.

In this light, we are inviting you to take part in the said online discussion. Please confirm your participation through online registration using the link:
